The co-development cohort on the culture of change and social innovation was born out of a need expressed by organizations to go beyond training workshops. Since 2014, organizations eager to explore new possibilities join forces to lean, reflect, get inspired and experiment.

Over a period of 8 months, a dozen NPO executive directors meet to deepen and exchange their knowledge on various issues they encounter in their daily professional lives. New models of management, storytelling, financing, communication, governance, impact… the topics are diversified and adapted to the expressed interests and needs of each cohort.

Who is this cohort for? Organizations wishing to initiate a change; they feel they need to be accompanied in order to meet the new requirements of funders in terms of innovation; they would like to facilitate the implementation of new ways of doing things within their team.

The cohort is a space for learning through action and collaboration. We use an appreciative approach that builds on the strengths of each individual to foster new capacities.

Accompanied by André Fortin, the Foundation’s social innovator in residence, the philanthropic activities team acts as a host and liaison with the various stakeholders who share their knowledge.

The cohort runs from September to April. It starts with a 2-day retreat in September, followed by 6 encounters. A contribution of $ 1,000 and a resolution of the Board of Directors are requested. These registration fees include:

  • The 8 days of training, including a wrap-up encounter with a public event to share learning outcomes
  • Fees for external speakers and trainers
  • Teaching materials
  • Meals and lodging during the retreat
  • Fees for field visits, if applicable
